We have our visa!!!

Since the time we were waiting to spend our maintenance at the Embassy of the United States to get our E2 visa, as I had announced in my previous post, the appointment was taken for April 15 at 10:15.

The preparations:

It's been more than a month since I've been working to prepare the interview that goes entirely in English and where I have to defend our project to convince the immigration officer that we will earn enough our lives and also hired American staff.

I have for this, been coached by an American (thank you Christina) living in France specializing in interviews for visas. We have worked intensively to find the right answers to any questions from the immigration officer. The answers needed to be short but also contain a maximum of relevant information.

We have also been well helped by Sylvain and daphnée of Objectif USA, to whom we must have found us the bakery on winter garden and the Constitution of the business plan obligatory for the visa application. In addition to that, they were really present to us and gave us very good advice on everything.

The day of the appointment:

We took a hotel in Paris to avoid any bad surprise on the day J. strangely I was the most serene of the family while I was going to be questioned. In the morning, I would revise one last time before the big oral. Waking up at 7 o'clock for the rest of the family. Departure around 7.30 am towards the Embassy. It was driving pretty good for Paris and we arrived with more than an hour ahead. So we had breakfast in a bistro not too far.

After the passage of security, under the same tent, checking the convening papers, besides they asked me different forms of those requested on the convocation, fortunately I had printed the complete file in case.

We finally enter the Embassy, we follow the signs marked VISA in bulk to finally find us in the famous interview room. We are queuing, to register, it goes pretty quickly months of 10 minutes. The first officer takes our passports and documents as well as fingerprints of the whole family (except Luke who is too small). And asks us in the waiting room that we are called for the interview.

The interview:

After 2/3 minutes, they call us at the number six counter. We go there and are greeted by a young immigration officer who we salute in French and looks happy to see that we are going to open a bakery in Florida. He picks up our fingerprints and always tells us in French that they will send us our passports. There, I am very surprised because I expected to be questioned, it confirms to me that we have our visa for 5 years and that we will receive our passports in the mail.

After a short hesitation, we leave the Embassy without believing too much, apparently our file was good enough and well mounted so that they do not need any additional information.

Now it's gone:

Now we are eagerly awaiting our passports and we hope to be able to take off for a one-way trip on April 20. Which leaves us only 5 days to finalize all our preparations in France.

Once arrived in Florida an extremely busy week awaits us:

We have to find a House to rent that is close to the good schools but also to our bakery and all that not too expensive.

It is necessary to do all the administrative steps if possible before the opening of the bakery.

It will also we need to buy 2 used cars, and insured them.

Take a hygiene exam, enroll our children in school, furnish us at least until our business arrives from France, etc. etc.

Conclusion:

We hope an opening of the bakery early may, meanwhile we will use the free time that will remain for us to enjoy Florida with the kids and we are already invited to a giant picnic with the French from Florida. We will obviously keep you informed of the preparation and the upcoming opening...

Spread the love
